The Zombie Who Guarded the Dream Pyramid

Lily loved **swimming** more than anything. Every summer, she spent hours at the community pool, pretending she was a mermaid exploring an underwater kingdom.

One afternoon, while diving for colorful pool toys, Lily noticed something strange at the bottom of the deep end. A tiny golden **pyramid**, no bigger than her thumb, glowed softly beneath the water. Curious, she swam down and wrapped her fingers around it.

Suddenly, the water began to shimmer. A voice echoed in her mind: "Thank you for finding my home."

Lily surfaced and gasped. Standing at the pool's edge was a green-skinned creature—what looked like a **zombie** from her storybooks! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He wore a friendly smile and a pointy party hat.

"I'm Zed," the creature said. "And you've just become the Guardian of the Dream Pyramid."

Lily's eyes widened. "But zombies are supposed to be scary!"

Zed chuckled. "That's just what people think. In my world, zombies are the friendliest creatures around. We move slowly because we're always thinking deep thoughts and making wishes come true."

He explained that the golden pyramid was magical—it could grant one wish to anyone brave enough to dive for it. But for years, no one had been curious enough to notice it.

"What's your wish, Lily?" Zed asked.

Lily thought about her little brother, Max, who was afraid of swimming. "I wish Max could love the water as much as I do."

Zed nodded approvingly. "A wish to help someone else is the strongest magic of all."

The pyramid pulsed with golden light. The next day, Max jumped into the pool with a grin, splashing and laughing like he'd never been afraid.

Lily learned that day that appearances can be deceiving. The zombie she thought would be scary became her magical friend, and the pyramid at the bottom of the pool held the power of kindness.

Now, every time Lily goes swimming, she waves to Zed, who sometimes appears by the poolside wearing different silly hats. Together, they guard the magic that helps others find their courage, one splash at a time.

After all, the best adventures—and friendships—come from being brave enough to look beneath the surface.
