The Zombie Who Forgot How to Scare
Lily loved thunderstorms. They were like nature's fireworks, with bright flashes that painted the sky in shades of purple and blue. One rainy afternoon, she sat by her window, watching the show, when something peculiar caught her eye.
In her backyard, beneath the old oak tree, stood a small green figure. It had messy hair, one button eye, and floppy arms. A zombie! But not a scary one—this zombie looked friendly and confused.
Lily grabbed her raincoat and boots. Outside, the zombie smiled shyly.
"Hello," Lily said. "I'm Lily. What's your name?"
The zombie blinked its one eye. "I don't remember. I think I'm supposed to scare people, but I forgot how."
Just then, a brilliant bolt of lightning flashed across the sky. The zombie jumped and hid behind Lily's legs.
"Don't worry," Lily said gently. "Lightning is just nature taking pictures. It can't hurt you here."
The zombie peeked out. "Really?"
"Really! And maybe you don't have to scare people at all. Maybe you could be a friend instead."
Lily had an idea. She pulled out her iPhone from her pocket. "Look, I can take pictures too! Want to see?" She snapped a photo of the zombie, who made a silly face.
They spent the afternoon playing together. The zombie learned that friendship was much better than frightening. As the storm cleared, a rainbow appeared.
"I remember my name now," the zombie said. "It's Zephyr, and I'm a Friendly Zombie. Thank you, Lily."
Lily waved goodbye as Zephyr skipped home. She learned something important that day: sometimes, things that seem scary are just waiting for someone to show them kindness. And a little imagination can turn any storm into an adventure.
