The Zombie Who Forgot How to Dream

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's dusty attic. One rainy afternoon, she discovered a mysterious golden cable hidden inside an old trunk. The cable shimmered and sparkled, and when she touched it, it began to glow.

Curious, Lily pulled gently. The cable stretched and stretched, leading her through a tiny door she'd never noticed before. Suddenly, she tumbled into a colorful world where the sky was purple and the grass was pink.

There she met Zom, a little green zombie with wild purple hair that stuck out in every direction. But Zom wasn't scary at all—he looked lonely and sad.

"Hello?" Lily said softly.

Zom jumped. His hair bounced like springs. "Nobody ever talks to me. They think I'm scary because I'm a zombie."

"You don't seem scary," Lily said kindly. "You seem like you need a friend."

Zom's eyes lit up. "I used to have lots of friends! But then I stopped eating my special dream vitamin, and I forgot how to be happy. Now I just shuffle around feeling gray."

"What's a dream vitamin?" Lily asked.

"It's a magical glowing berry that grows on the friendship tree," Zom explained. "But it's all the way at the top of Giggle Mountain, and I'm too tired to climb it."

Lily smiled. "Then we'll climb it together!"

Hand in hand, they climbed Giggle Mountain. When Zom felt tired, Lily told him funny jokes. When Lily felt scared, Zom used his zombie strength to help her up the steep rocks.

At the top, they found the friendship tree filled with glowing berries. Zom ate one and immediately his dull green skin turned bright, his eyes sparkled, and his purple hair began to shimmer.

"I remember!" Zom cheered. "The dream vitamin helps me remember that being different makes me special!"

The golden cable that had led Lily there began to pulse with light. It was connected to the friendship tree!

"The cable connects our worlds," Zom realized. "Friendship is the strongest connection of all!"

Lily hugged her new friend. "I'll visit every day!"

And she did, because she learned that the best magic isn't found in vitamins or cables—it's found in friendship, kindness, and seeing the wonderfulness in everyone, even zombies with wild purple hair.
