The Zombie Who Forgot

Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. One afternoon, she found something strange—a little creature with green skin, messy hair, and mismatched buttons for eyes. He shuffled along, bumping into trees.

"Hello?" Lily called softly.

The creature jumped. "Braaains?" he said, but it sounded like a question. "Oh, I mean—hello! I'm a zombie. But I think I forgot something important."

"Zombies aren't real!" Lily laughed. "But I believe you. What did you forget?"

The zombie frowned. "I don't remember." He pointed toward the river. "The sphinx there might know."

Lily followed her new friend to the water's edge, where a golden sphinx with kind amber eyes rested on a rock. The sphinx's wings shimmered like sunshine.

"Welcome," the sphinx purred. "I am Solara. What brings you?"

"He forgot something," Lily explained. "Can you help?"

Solara smiled mysteriously. "I can help, but first you must solve my riddle: I flow without feet, I give without asking, I reflect your smile and wash away sadness. What am I?"

"Water!" Lily cried.

"Correct." Solara dipped her paw into the river, producing something glowing. It was an orange—not a fruit, but a ball of pure orange light. "This is a memory crystal. Touch it, little zombie, and remember who you are."

The zombie's green fingers brushed the orange light. His eyes widened. "I remember now! I'm not really a zombie. I'm Zim, the guardian of imagination! I was put under a sleepy spell."

"You don't have to eat brains?" Lily giggled.

"No!" Zim laughed, spinning happily. "I eat stories and adventures!"

Solara nodded wisely. "Friendship is the strongest magic. You broke the spell together."

That day, Lily learned that things aren't always what they seem, and the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to be kind. Now every weekend, she visits Zim and Solara by the water, where they share stories and eat oranges—both the glowing magical kind and the delicious fruit kind.
