The Zombie Who Danced

Lily's cat, Mittens, was the most curious cat in the world. Every morning, Mittens would dash to the garden and stare at something moving beneath the pumpkin vines.

"What do you see, Mittens?" Lily asked, kneeling beside her fluffy friend.

To her surprise, a small green figure shuffled from the shadows. It was a zombie — but not a scary one. This zombie was made entirely of vegetables! A pumpkin head, carrot arms, and lettuce leaf clothes.

"Braaaains..." the veggie-zombie moaned sadly. "Or... vitamin C?"

Lily gasped. "You're not scary! You're just hungry!"

The zombie nodded slowly. "I'm Zucchini Zombie. I was magic once, but I haven't had my morning vitamins in so long. Now I can only shuffle and moan."

Mittens rubbed against the zombie's leg, purring loudly. The zombie's pumpkin face glowed warmly.

"We can help!" Lily declared. "My mom says vitamins give you energy and magic!"

Hand in hand (or carrot hand in human hand), they skipped to Lily's kitchen. Lily grabbed her brightest orange bottle. "These are sunshine vitamins!"

Zucchini Zombie swallowed one vitamin with a grateful smile.

Suddenly, pumpkin vines burst from his feet! Sunflowers bloomed from his shoulders! His lettuce dress transformed into a magnificent cape of kale!

"I can DANCE!" Zucchini Zombie cheered, spinning joyfully. Mittens leaped and twirled beside him.

Together they created the most magical garden party ever. Flowers bloomed wherever they stepped. Butterflies and fireflies joined their dance.

"What did we learn?" Mom asked later, finding three exhausted friends sleeping in a sunflower patch.

"That even zombies need vitamins," Lily whispered, hugging Mittens and her new best friend. "And that kindness can turn anything into magic."

Every morning after, Zucchini Zombie would dance through the garden, making vegetables grow tall and flowers bloom bright. Mittens would chase butterflies beside him, and Lily would watch with wonder, knowing that friendship and a little care could transform even the saddest zombie into something beautiful.

And that's how the zombie who could only shuffle became the zombie who could dance — all because one little girl, one curious cat, and one magical vitamin believed that everyone deserves to be happy.
