The Zombie Who Couldn't Swim
Max found the old green hat in his grandmother's attic. It smelled like lavender cookies and rainy afternoons. When he put it on, something magical happened.
A small purple zombie popped out from behind a dusty trunk! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He wore tiny polka-dot shorts and a big smile.
"Hello!" said the zombie. "I'm Zibble! I've been waiting for someone to find that magic hat for 87 years!"
Max's eyes grew wide. "You're a zombie?"
"Yes, but I'm the friendly kind," Zibble explained. "I'm on a very important mission. I need to find the Golden Vitamin to save my friend Zora. She's been sleeping for a very long time."
"Where is this Golden Vitamin?" Max asked.
"In the Crystal Lake!" Zibble danced excitedly. "But there's one problem—I'm terrible at swimming!"
Max looked at Zibble's wobbly legs and laughed. "I can teach you! My dad taught me last summer."
Every day for a week, Max and Zibble practiced in the backyard pool. Zibble splashed and flailed. He floated like a cork and sank like a stone. But Max was patient. "You're doing better!" he encouraged. "Just keep kicking!"
Finally, Zibble could doggy-paddle across the pool.
"Ready?" Max asked.
They followed an old map to Crystal Lake. The water sparkled like diamonds. At the bottom, glowing softly, was a golden pill-shaped object—the Golden Vitamin!
Zibble took a deep breath and dove in. He kicked and paddled, his purple face determined. Down, down, down he swam until his fingers touched the golden treasure.
When he surfaced, Golden Vitamin in hand, Max cheered so loudly that birds flew from the trees.
Back at the zombie village, Zibble gave Zora the vitamin. Her eyes fluttered open. "You saved me, Zibble!"
"I couldn't have done it without Max," Zibble said, hugging his friend.
Max realized something important: sometimes the scariest-looking challenges just need a good friend and a little practice. And with patience and kindness, anyone—even a zombie—could learn to swim toward their dreams.
