The Zombie Who Could Fly

Max loved his golden retriever, Barnaby. Every morning, they would go running together through the sunny meadow behind their house. Barnaby's ears flopped happily as he chased butterflies, and Max laughed until his sides hurt.

One rainy afternoon, Max found something strange in his grandmother's attic. It was an old toy zombie with green skin, stitched together with colorful thread. Granma called him Zippy.

"He's special," Granma whispered. "But he needs his magic vitamin to wake up."

She handed Max a small bottle of glittery orange liquid. Max carefully placed one drop on Zippy's forehead.

Suddenly, Zippy's eyes popped open! They were big and purple, full of wonder. The little toy zombie stretched his arms and smiled.

"Hello, friend!" Zippy cheered. "I've been sleeping for fifty years!"

Max couldn't believe it. His new friend was magical! Zippy wasn't scary at all—he was funny and kind.

The next morning, Barnaby came running into Max's room, tail wagging wildly. He wanted to play! Zippy hopped onto Barnaby's back, and they all went running outside together.

But Zippy looked sad. "I wish I could fly like the birds," he said. "Running is fun, but flying must be magical."

Max had an idea. "What if running together IS our magic?" he suggested. "We're already having an adventure!"

Zippy's purple eyes sparkled. "You're right! Friendship is the best magic of all."

From that day on, Max, Barnaby, and Zippy went running everywhere. They explored hidden forests, discovered secret caves, and even helped a lost bunny find its way home. Zippy never learned to fly, but he learned something better: how wonderful it is to have friends who accept you exactly as you are.

And every night, Max would give Zippy his special vitamin drop, keeping their magical friendship alive forever.
