The Zombie Who Blooms

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house by the sparkling ocean. The best part was the giant palm tree in the backyard, whose leaves danced in the warm breeze like green fingers waving hello.

One afternoon, while playing under the palm tree, Lily spotted something peculiar. A floppy purple hat with silver stars was stuck in the branches! Lily climbed up carefully and reached for the hat, but as soon as she touched it, the hat spoke!

"Thank you for helping me!" said the hat in a tiny, squeaky voice. "I'm Magic Hat, and I grant wishes to kind hearts."

Lily's eyes widened like full moons. "Really? Any wish?"

"Any wish that comes from love," Magic Hat explained. "But you must use it wisely."

Suddenly, something groaned from behind the garden bushes. Lily froze. A slow-moving figure stumbled out – it looked like a zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. She had flowers braided into her hair and wore a friendly smile.

"Hello," said the zombie softly. "I'm Zara. I'm not a scary zombie. I'm a Garden Zombie! I help plants grow and flowers bloom."

Lily gasped with wonder. "A Garden Zombie? I didn't know those existed!"

Zara nodded sadly. "Most people run away when they see me. They think I'm scary because I move slowly and my skin is green. But I just love nature. My real name is Zara, and I've been so lonely."

Lily felt bad that Zara had no friends. Then she had a wonderful idea. She picked up Magic Hat and whispered, "I wish everyone could see Zara's kind heart and beautiful garden magic."

Magic Hat glowed bright silver, and sparkles drifted down like glittering snowflakes. Suddenly, the whole neighborhood could see glowing hearts around Zara. Children ran over to meet her, and soon Zara was teaching everyone how to make sunflowers grow tall and roses bloom bright.

"Thank you, Lily," Zara said, hugging her new friend. "You saw past my outside and looked at my inside. That's the best kind of friendship."

That day, Lily learned that true friends don't judge by appearances. Sometimes the most wonderful friends come in the most unexpected packages – even if they look like zombies from far away!

And every summer, Lily returns to visit Zara under the palm tree, where they plant magical gardens together while Magic Hat watches from his favorite branch, sparkling with joy.
