The Zombie's Secret Pyramid

Lily and Max loved exploring their backyard, especially on hot summer days. But nothing prepared them for what they found behind the old oak tree.

A shimmering golden pyramid stood where their rusty sandbox used to be. It wasn't big—just tall enough for a ten-year-old to stand inside—but it glowed with soft rainbow light.

"Wow," whispered Lily, stepping closer. "Do you think we should—"

Suddenly, a green hand popped out from behind the pyramid!

Max yelped, but then he saw who it belonged to. A small zombie with messy purple hair and friendly yellow eyes peeked around the corner. He wore a polka-dot cape and held a bucket of flowers.

"Hello!" the zombie smiled. "I'm Zombert. Would you like to see my magical pool?"

Lily and Max looked at each other. This zombie didn't seem scary at all.

"I'm Lily, and this is Max. What kind of pool?"

Zombert led them inside the pyramid. The walls sparkled with tiny stars. In the center bubbled a small pool filled with sparkling blue water.

"This is the Dream Pool," Zombert explained. "When you make a wish for someone else, it comes true. But only if your heart is kind."

Max dipped his hand in the water. "I wish for my friend Emma to feel better. She's been sick."

The water turned pink and glowed. A warm breeze filled the pyramid.

Lily made her wish too. "I wish our neighbor Mr. Jenkins finds his lost cat. He misses her so much."

The water sparkled gold this time.

Zombert clapped his green hands happily. "You two are wonderful friends! That's why the pyramid chose you."

They spent the afternoon making wishes for others—wishes for sick classmates, lonely neighbors, and even one for Zombert to have more friends.

By sunset, the pyramid began to fade. "Thank you for visiting," Zombert hugged them both. "Remember, the magic isn't the pool or the pyramid. It's kindness in your hearts."

The next day, Emma returned to school, smiling and healthy. And Mr. Jenkins' cat Mittens was sitting on his porch, meowing loudly.

Lily and Max ran to the backyard. The pyramid was gone, but a small note lay in the grass: "Real friends always find their way back. — Zombert"

And hidden behind the oak tree was a tiny pool of sparkling blue water, still glowing with magic.
