The Zombie's Secret Garden
Lily loved exploring behind her house, especially where the woods grew thick and mysterious. One sunny afternoon, she discovered something amazing—a hidden garden with glowing green plants reaching toward the sky.
"Who's there?" a voice croaked.
Lily froze. From behind a towering spinach plant emerged a green-skinned zombie! But instead of being scary, he wore a floppy gardening hat and held a watering can.
"I'm Zed," he said shyly. "Most people run away screaming."
"I'm not scared," Lily said bravely. "Why is your spinach glowing?"
"It's magic spinach!" Zed's eyes lit up. "Each leaf contains a special vitamin that gives you a different power. The purple ones make you float like feathers. The silver ones let you talk to animals."
Lily's eyes widened. "Can I try one?"
Zed nodded, plucking a shimmering golden leaf. "This one's perfect for today."
As soon as Lily ate it, she felt tingling all over. "What does it do?"
Suddenly, the sky darkened. CRACK! Lightning flashed purple and pink across the clouds.
"Perfect timing!" Zed cheered. "The vitamin you just took lets you go swimming—even in lightning storms! The electricity makes the water sparkle and fizz like soda pop."
Lily had never heard of anything so wonderful. Zed led her to a hidden pond where fish made of pure light swam beneath the surface. They jumped in together, and the lightning turned every splash into rainbow colors.
"I was so lonely," Zed admitted, doing a happy backstroke. "Everyone thinks zombies are scary. I just wanted a friend to share magic spinach with."
Lily splashed him gently. "Well, now you have one. And next time, I'm bringing my friends!"
As they swam through the magical storm, Lily learned something important: sometimes the scariest-looking things turn out to be the most wonderful—if you're brave enough to say hello.
