The Zombie's Secret Garden

Lily discovered the hidden pool behind her grandmother's house on a hot summer afternoon. The water sparkled like liquid diamonds, and lily pads floated like tiny green islands. But the most amazing thing was what she found sitting on the mossy bank—a small, gray creature with messy hair and bright purple eyes.

"Boo!" the creature said, but it sounded more like a whisper than a scare.

Lily didn't run away. Instead, she knelt down. "Are you a zombie?"

The creature nodded sadly. "I'm Zimby. Everyone runs away when they see me."

"I won't run," Lily promised. "Why are you so sad?"

Zimby held up a shriveled leaf. "The garden magic is fading. I need sunshine and special food to keep the enchanted pool glowing. But I can't leave this place to find it."

Lily's eyes lit up. "My grandmother grows the most delicious papayas in her orchard! She says they're filled with sunshine and every good vitamin in the world."

She rushed to the orchard and returned with three golden papayas, their skin dotted with tiny stars. Zimby's eyes widened. "Star papayas! The most magical fruit of all!"

Together, they tossed pieces of papaya into the pool. The water began to glow—first soft pink, then golden yellow, then brilliant blue. Tiny fish made of pure light swam to the surface, nibbling at the fruit.

"Thank you," Zimby whispered, his gray skin turning warm and rosy. "You've saved the magic. And you've given me something even better."

"What?" Lily asked.

"A friend," Zimby smiled.

From that day on, Lily visited the secret pool every afternoon. She learned that sometimes the scariest-looking creatures just need kindness, and that friendship is the most powerful magic of all. The pool continued to glow, Zimby was never lonely again, and Lily discovered that the best adventures are the ones you share with someone who needs a friend.
