The Zombie's Secret Garden

Lila loved visiting her grandmother's house on the magical island of Kokomo. Every afternoon, she'd sit under the swaying palm tree and listen to Grandma's wonderful stories.

"Did you know," Grandma whispered one day, "that behind our garden lives a zombie?"

Lila's eyes grew wide. "A real zombie?"

"Not a scary one," Grandma laughed. "A friendly zombie who guards something very special."

That night, Lila couldn't sleep. Lightning flashed across the sky, making shadows dance on her walls. She crept outside and followed a trail of glowing fireflies to the forbidden garden.

There, she saw him—a green zombie with kind eyes, sitting alone in the moonlight. He looked so sad.

"Hello?" Lila called out softly.

The zombie jumped! But instead of frightening her, he offered her something from his garden—bright green leaves of magical spinach.

"Eat this," he seemed to say without speaking.

Lila took a bite. Suddenly, her hands began to sparkle with tiny bolts of lightning! She could make stars dance and flowers bloom with just a touch.

"You're not scary at all," Lila realized. "You're lonely."

The zombie nodded. For a hundred years, everyone had been too afraid to visit him. All he wanted was a friend.

Lila took his hand. "Will you be my friend?"

That night, they played together, making lightning bugs and magical spinach soup. The zombie wasn't a monster at all—he was the guardian of wonder, waiting for someone brave enough to see past his scary appearance.

Sometimes, Lila learned, the scariest things are just the most lonely ones. And true magic happens when you're kind to everyone, even those who look different from you.
