The Zombie's Secret Game
Lily crept through the golden sand, her sneakers whispering against the dunes. Behind her, the great pyramid rose like a mysterious mountain against the purple twilight sky. She'd been warned never to explore alone, but curiosity sparkled in her brown eyes like the first stars.
A scraping sound made her freeze. From the pyramid's shadow emerged not a scary monster, but a clumsy figure wrapped in dusty bandages—a zombie!
"G-g-greetings," the zombie stuttered, waving shyly. "I'm Zed. Are you here to play padel?"
Lily gasped. "You know padel?"
Zed's bandage-wrapped face crinkled into what might have been a smile. "I watched children play for centuries from my pyramid. I always wanted to try."
Behind Zed, a magnificent bull stepped forward—golden horns gleaming, eyes gentle and wise.
"This is Buster," Zed said proudly. "He's my best friend. He protects me from the scary desert creatures."
Lily's fear melted away. This wasn't a monster at all—just someone lonely, longing for connection.
"I'll play padel with you!" Lily exclaimed, pulling her racquet from her backpack. "But we need a ball."
Buster the bull nudged Zed's pocket, and a magical sphere rolled out—one that glowed like moonlight and bounced with sparkling trails.
They played until the desert stars brightened into a glittery canopy above. Lily laughed until her sides hurt as Zed's clumsy swings sent the ball floating upward like bubbles, and Buster chased it with surprising grace.
As Lily skipped home, she learned something wonderful: sometimes the things that seem scary at first are just friends waiting to be made. And now she had two new friends who lived in a pyramid, played magical padel under the stars, and taught her that courage means looking beyond appearances to find the heart underneath.
