The Zombie's Secret

Lila lived in a small house beside the sparkling blue sea. Every morning, she would sit under the swaying palm tree in her yard and listen to the waves. But today, something strange happened.

While Lila was eating her breakfast papaya, she spotted something green and floppy walking out of the water. It looked like a zombie! Lila wanted to run, but the zombie didn't look scary at all. It looked sad and lonely.

"Hello?" Lila called out softly.

The zombie stopped. Its skin shimmered like seawater in the sun. To Lila's surprise, it pulled out an iPhone from its pocket – but this wasn't a normal phone. It glowed with magical blue light!

The zombie typed something and showed her the screen: *I am not a zombie. I am a water spirit named Zola.*

Lila's eyes grew wide. "A real water spirit? Like from the stories?"

Zola nodded and typed: *I was trapped by fishermen's nets. My magic made me look scary so they would let me go. But now everyone runs away from me.*

"You just need a friend!" Lila said. She remembered her grandmother's words: "Sometimes the scariest things are just the loneliest."

She held out her piece of sweet papaya. Zola took it carefully and smiled. As the water spirit ate the fruit, her green skin turned soft and pink. She wasn't scary at all – she was beautiful!

"Thank you," Zola said, her voice sounding like ocean bubbles. "Your kindness broke my curse."

From that day on, Lila and Zola had adventures together. Zola showed Lila secret underwater caves filled with glowing fish. Lila showed Zola how to build sandcastles and catch coconuts.

And whenever other children saw Zola and got scared, Lila would say, "Don't worry! She may look different, but inside she's wonderful. Just like a papaya – rough on the outside, sweet on the inside!"

The children learned that friendship has nothing to do with how someone looks. Zola became the guardian of their beach, keeping everyone safe while they played in the water.

And sometimes, if you look carefully at the palm trees near Lila's house, you can still see them dancing in the breeze – Zola and Lila, best friends forever, sharing papaya and magic under the sun.
