The Zombie's Pyramid Promise

Leo's favorite place in the whole world was the sparkling blue pool behind his house. He loved pretending to be an explorer discovering new lands beneath the water's surface.

One afternoon, while practicing his underwater swimming, Leo saw something strange at the bottom of the pool. It was green and lumpy, and it was... dancing?

Leo popped up for air and squinted. "Is that... a zombie?"

Sure enough, a zombie was doing the wobble dance at the bottom of the pool. But this wasn't like any zombie Leo had seen in movies. This one wore glittery pink swim goggles and a flower-patterned swim cap.

The zombie surfaced with a big splash. "Hello there! I'm Zimmy! Do you know how to get to the Great Pyramid of Friendship? My map got all soggy!"

Leo's eyes went wide. "You're... nice?"

Zimmy laughed, sending little green bubbles floating from her mouth. "Of course I'm nice! In my world, zombies are Guardians of the Pyramid. Our job is to collect friendship and bring it back to our magical pyramid home. But I took a wrong turn down a water pipe!"

"The Great Pyramid of Friendship sounds amazing," Leo said.

Zimmy's eyes sparkled like the pool water. "It's a magical pyramid where every friendship ever made is stored as a glowing crystal. The more friends you have, the brighter it shines!"

Leo sat on the pool's edge. "I've never had a zombie friend before."

"And I've never had a human friend who wasn't scared of me!" Zimmy beamed.

For the next hour, they played together like old friends. Leo showed Zimmy how to do cannonballs, and Zimmy taught Leo a secret zombie game called "Statue Tag." When the sun began to set, painting the sky orange and pink, Zimmy sighed.

"I should get back. But first..." She pulled out a tiny crystal pyramid that glowed with rainbow colors. "This is for you. Whenever you're lonely, hold it and remember - the best friends come from the most unexpected places."

Leo wrapped his friend in a big hug. "Thank you, Zimmy!"

With one last splash, Zimmy disappeared, leaving behind sparkly green bubbles.

That night, Leo placed the crystal pyramid on his nightstand. It glowed softly, reminding him that friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors - even green and bumpy ones.

And sometimes, when he holds it tight, Leo can still hear Zimmy's laugh in the sparkle of the light.
