The Zombie's Papaya Promise
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's magical garden. Every Thursday, she went swimming in the sparkling pond behind the old oak tree. But today, something strange rustled in the spinach patch.
Out tumbled a zombie! But not a scary one—this was a friendly zombie named Zara, with purple hair and a smile as bright as sunshine. She wore a dress made of papaya leaves and smelled like tropical sunshine.
"Hello!" Zara waved. "I've been trapped in that spinach for one hundred years!" She explained she was actually a magical gardener cursed by a grumpy frog. The only way to break the spell was with a perfectly ripe papaya, kissed by moonlight.
Lily's eyes widened. "Grandma has a papaya tree! But it only fruits once a year, and tonight is the full moon!"
The two new friends hurried through the garden, past roses that hummed lullabies and sunflowers that turned their heads to watch them pass. At the papaya tree, a single golden fruit glowed softly in the moonlight.
Zara reached up, her purple fingers gentle. She plucked the papaya, closed her eyes, and whispered: "Magic friend, set me free."
POOF! Sparkles filled the air like fireflies. Zara transformed into a beautiful fairy with shimmering wings the color of papaya flesh.
"Thank you, Lily!" Zara danced around her. "Friendship is the strongest magic of all."
From that night on, Lily and Zara had swimming races in the magical pond, ate spinach sandwiches together, and shared papaya slices under the full moon. And Lily learned that sometimes, the scariest things turn out to be the most wonderful friends.
The end.
