The Zombie's Padel Lesson

In a cozy cave near Whispering Woods lived Barnaby, a large brown bear with the gentlest heart in all the forest. Every afternoon, he would sit by his bowl and watch his best friend, Goldie the goldfish, swim in lazy circles. Goldie wasn't an ordinary fish—she could speak!

One sunny morning, Barnaby heard strange shuffling sounds outside. He peeked through the curtains and gasped. A green figure stumbled toward his cave, moving stiff and slow like a broken puppet.

"A zombie!" Barnaby trembled, hiding behind his favorite armchair. Goldie splashed excitedly in her bowl. "Don't be scared, Barnaby! That's Zara! She lives in the Misty Meadow, and she's the nicest zombie you'll ever meet!"

Zara's skin was pale green, and one button eye hung loose. She shuffled to the door and knocked softly. "Hello? Does anyone want to play padel?"

Barnaby blinked. "You mean that game with the racquets and the bouncy ball?"

Zara nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! But everyone runs away when they see me. They think I'm scary, but I just want to make friends."

Goldie called out, "Barnaby should teach you! He's wonderful at padel!"

So Barnaby brought Zara to the forest padel court, where butterflies danced around the net. Zara moved slowly and awkwardly, but she smiled the whole time. Barnaby showed her how to hold the racquet, how to swing, and how to hit the ball just right.

Days passed, and soon Zara was playing beautifully. Other forest animals gathered to watch—the raccoons, the rabbits, even the grumpy old badger. They saw how kind Zara was, how she laughed when she missed the ball, and how she always helped Barnaby clean up afterward.

"She's not scary at all," the little raccoons whispered. "She's just like us!"

That evening, as the sun painted the sky purple and gold, Barnaby, Zara, and Goldie sat together. Zara had never been happier.

"Thank you for seeing me, not what I look like," Zara said softly. "True friends look with their hearts, not their eyes."

Barnaby hugged his new friend gently. "And that's the most important lesson of all."
