The Zombie's Orange Surprise
Lila loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, she'd grab her glove and run to the park, but nobody ever wanted to pick her for their team. One afternoon, sitting alone on the bench, she noticed something strange behind the old equipment shed.
A small green creature was tangled in a thick black cable! Lila tiptoed closer. The creature looked like a tiny zombie, with messy green hair and patched-up clothes, but his eyes were kind and sparkled like emeralds.
"Please help!" squeaked the little zombie. "I'm Zed, and I'm stuck!"
Lila gently unwound the cable from around Zed's leg. "I'm Lila. What are you doing here?"
Zed reached into his pocket and pulled out a glowing orange pill. "This is a friendship vitamin! I was bringing it to someone who really needs it."
"A friendship vitamin?" Lila asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes!" Zed nodded. "It helps people see what really matters. I think YOU need it more than anyone."
Lila swallowed the vitamin, and suddenly everything looked brighter. "But I'm just okay at baseball. Nobody picks me for their team."
"That's because they don't see your real superpower," Zed said. "You're the best cheerleader! You clap for everyone else, you help kids up when they fall, and you never give up. That's what makes a true champion."
Just then, a group of kids ran over. "Lila!" called Marcus, the best player. "Our team needs a captain who believes in everyone. Will you lead us?"
Lila's heart soared. She realized Zed was right – her real power wasn't hitting home runs; it was making everyone feel like a winner. And that was the best magic of all.
As Zed disappeared with a wink, Lila grabbed her glove and ran onto the field, finally understanding that the most valuable player isn't always the one with the highest score – it's the one with the biggest heart.
