The Zombie's Orange Gift

Lily loved running through the Whispering Woods, her feet dancing over fallen leaves. The forest was her favorite place, full of secrets and magic. But today, something strange caught her eye.

Behind an ancient oak tree, she saw him - a zombie! But he wasn't scary like in her storybooks. This zombie had green skin that sparkled like emeralds, and he was sitting sadly on a mossy rock.

"Hello?" Lily called out bravely.

The zombie looked up with surprised eyes. "Oh! A human! Please don't run away. I'm not scary. I'm just... lonely."

"I'm Lily," she said, stepping closer. "What's your name?"

"Zimby," the zombie replied with a shy smile. "Would you like to see something special?" He reached into his pocket and pulled out the most beautiful orange Lily had ever seen. It glowed like a tiny sunset!

"It's a Moon Orange," Zimby explained. "It only grows in our magical garden. One bite makes you feel happy forever. But I can't enjoy it alone."

Lily's eyes widened. "But aren't zombies supposed to be scary and mean?"

Zimby shook his head. "That's just a story people tell. Real zombies just want friends. We're actually quite friendly!"

Lily thought about how she had felt scared of the forest before she explored it. Sometimes things seem scary until you give them a chance.

"Let's share it!" Lily suggested.

Together, they sat beneath the oak tree and split the glowing orange. As they ate, they felt warmth spread through their hearts like sunshine. They spent the afternoon running through the woods, playing tag and laughing.

From that day on, Lily visited Zimby often. She learned that the most wonderful friends can come from the most unexpected places. And whenever she saw someone sitting alone at school, she remembered Zimby and always said hello.

Because Lily knew something important: friendship is the real magic in the world, and it starts with being brave enough to say hello.
