The Zombie's Midnight Swim

Young Leo loved the ocean. Every night, he would sneak out to the beach to hear the waves sing. One moonlit night, he saw something strange shambling near the old palm tree. It looked like a person, but moved slowly, like sleepwalking.

Leo hid behind the tree and watched. The creature was greenish-gray, with messy hair and tattered clothes. A zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary. It was trying to catch fireflies, and every time it reached out, it tripped over its own feet and tumbled into the sand with a gentle "oh!"

The zombie looked sad.

Leo stepped out. "Hello?"

The zombie jumped. "Oh! Hello, little human. I'm Zed. I'm... not very good at being scary. Everyone runs away from me."

Leo smiled. "I'm Leo. Do you want to see something magical?"

Zed's eyes widened. "Magic? Really?"

Leo led Zed to a hidden lagoon behind the palm trees. "This is where I go swimming at midnight. The water glows when the moon is full. Watch!"

They jumped in together. As soon as Zed touched the water, he stopped shuffling. His greenish-gray skin sparkled like stars. "I can move! I can dance!" Zed twirled in the glowing water, laughing with joy. The curse was broken by the magic lagoon!

Suddenly, a snort came from behind them. A massive bull with golden horns stepped out from the trees. But this bull wasn't scary either - he wore a tiny flower crown made of tropical blossoms.

"Thank you," said the bull in a deep, rumbling voice. "For years, I've watched Zed try to reach this lagoon, but he could never make it past the palm grove. You helped him find his magic."

"I'm free!" Zed cheered, splashing water everywhere. "Leo, you're my best friend!"

And so, every midnight, Leo, Zed the friendly zombie, and Barnaby the flower-crowned bull would swim together in the magical lagoon, under the palm trees, with fireflies dancing above them like tiny floating stars.

Leo learned that sometimes the scariest-looking things just need a friend to help them find their magic.
