The Zombie's Midnight Garden
Leo loved exploring the park at dusk, when shadows danced and fireflies twinkled like tiny stars. One evening, he heard a strange thwack-thwack-thwack coming from behind the old oak tree.
Peeking around the trunk, Leo's eyes went wide. A green figure stood there, swinging a racquet at a bouncing ball. It wasn't scary at all—it was a zombie! But not the kind from movies. This zombie wore a colorful headband and a friendly smile.
"Want to play padel?" the zombie asked, his voice bubbly like spring water. "I'm Zed!"
Leo stepped forward, curious instead of afraid. "I'm Leo. But... aren't zombies supposed to be scary?"
Zed chuckled. "That's just stories! I'm a garden zombie. I grow special plants!"
He led Leo to a magical garden where spinach leaves glowed purple and silver. "Try some," Zed said, offering a shimmering leaf.
Leo nibbled it—and suddenly felt light as a feather! He could jump higher than ever before!
"Magic spinach gives us energy for games!" Zed laughed, tossing him a glowing baseball. "Let's play padel together!"
They played until moonlight flooded the park. The baseball left trails of sparkles as it bounced. Every time Zed hit the ball, flowers bloomed in its path!
"Why play alone?" Leo asked between volleys.
Zed looked sad. "Everyone runs away when they see me."
Leo felt his heart pinch. "They shouldn't. You're the best friend I've made all summer!"
The zombie's green face lit up. "Really?"
"Really!" Leo grinned. "Want to come back tomorrow? My sister would love to meet you. She loves magic gardens!"
Zed beamed. "I'll bring extra spinach!"
As Leo walked home, he understood something important: the most magical things sometimes look different than expected. And friendship could bloom anywhere—even in a moonlit garden with a zombie who loved padel and grew enchanted spinach.
That night, Leo dreamed of glowing baseballs and spinach sparkles, knowing tomorrow would bring another adventure with his new friend.
