The Zombie's Magical Pool
Emma loved summer storms. When lightning flashed across the sky like silver ribbons, she knew magic was near.
One rainy afternoon, Emma spotted something glowing behind the old papaya tree in her backyard. Curious, she crept closer through the rain. Suddenly, she gasped. A shimmering blue pool had appeared, filled with water that sparkled like liquid stars.
But something else moved near the pool's edge. Emma froze. It looked like a zombie! Its skin was pale green, and its clothes were tattered. Emma wanted to run, but then the zombie spoke.
"Please don't go," it said softly. "I'm not scary. I'm Zombardo, guardian of the Magic Pool."
Emma noticed something surprising — Zombardo held a rainbow-colored cable in one hand, and gentle golden light glowed from his eyes, not menace.
"What's the cable for?" Emma asked, stepping closer.
"It connects our world to the Land of Forever Dreams," Zombardo explained. "But I can't leave this pool until someone shows me true friendship. Everyone runs away when they see me."
Emma smiled. "I won't run away. Want to share my papaya?" She plucked a ripe fruit from the tree and split it with him.
As they ate together, something magical happened. The cable in Zombardo's hand began to glow brighter, and the pool's water churned with rainbow colors. Lightning flashed overhead, but this time it formed the shape of a heart.
"Thank you, Emma," Zombardo said, his skin turning a warm brown color. "Your friendship broke the curse of loneliness."
He pressed a glowing papaya seed into her palm. "Whenever you need magic, plant this seed. It will grow into whatever you dream of."
Emma hugged her new friend. As the storm passed, the pool faded away, but Emma knew magic wasn't gone — it lived in friendship, kindness, and the courage to see the good in everyone, even someone who looked different.
That night, Emma planted the seed, dreaming of papaya trees that would bear friendship fruits for everyone who needed a friend.
