The Zombie's Magical Palm

Lily loved spending her grandmother's sunny backyard, especially when the old palm tree swayed in the warm breeze. But today something strange happened.

A rumble of thunder shook the ground, and suddenly—CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck the palm tree's trunk. When the smoke cleared, Lily couldn't believe her eyes. A small green figure tumbled down from the branches.

The creature looked like a zombie from her storybooks, with patchy blue skin and messy purple hair, but this zombie wore sparkly rainbow overalls and a big friendly smile.

"Hello there!" the zombie said, dancing a happy jig. "I'm Zing! The lightning magic brought me to life!"

Lily giggled. Zing wasn't scary at all—he was bouncy and fun. He showed her how he could make flowers bloom just by snapping his fingers, and they spent the afternoon playing magical tag.

But Zing started slowing down. His green skin turned pale, and his rainbow overalls lost their sparkle.

"What's wrong?" Lily asked worriedly.

"Zombie magic needs special energy," Zing sighed. "I haven't had my sunshine vitamin in three hundred years!"

Lily's grandmother had taught her about vitamins—the special things in food that keep bodies strong and healthy. She ran inside and returned with her grandmother's special bottle of orange vitamin drops.

"Try this!" Lily said, holding out a bright orange drop.

Zing's eyes widened. As soon as the sweet orange drop touched his tongue, Zing began to glow! His green skin turned bright as fresh grass, his purple hair puffed up like cotton candy, and rainbow sparkles danced around him.

"That's the most delicious sunshine ever!" Zing cheered. He grabbed Lily's hand and placed something in her palm—a tiny golden seed.

"Plant this wherever you want magic to grow," Zing said. "And whenever you see lightning, think of your friend Zing!"

With a flash of rainbow light, Zing vanished back into the clouds.

Lily planted the seed under the palm tree. That night, as gentle rain fell and lightning flickered across the sky, she knew her friend was nearby, dancing in the storms and spreading magic wherever he went.

And every morning, Lily took her vitamins—just in case she needed another magical adventure.
