The Zombie's Magical Garden
Lily loved nothing more than swimming in the cool, blue water of Crystal Lake. Every summer afternoon, she would dive beneath the sparkling surface, her legs kicking like a mermaid's tail.
One day, while exploring deeper than usual, Lily spotted something green and leafy swaying among the rocks. Curious, she swam closer and discovered an entire underwater garden! But the most surprising sight was the creature tending to it—a green-skinned zombie with friendly purple eyes and seaweed hair!
Lily almost swam away, but the zombie waved a leafy hand and smiled.
"Welcome! I'm Zale!" the zombie bubbled happily. "Would you like to try my magical spinach?"
Lily's eyes widened. "You grow spinach underwater?"
"Not just any spinach!" Zale beamed, handing her a shimmering emerald leaf. "One bite gives you the ability to breathe underwater for a whole hour!"
Tentatively, Lily took a bite. It tasted sweet and salty, like the ocean itself. Suddenly, she could breathe!
For the rest of the summer, Lily visited Zale every day. They tended the magical garden together, played hide-and-seek among the coral reefs, and shared stories. Zale explained he wasn't scary at all—just a magical gardener who looked different. The spinach he grew helped fish swim faster and turtles live longer.
"Never judge someone by how they look," Zale told her. "True friendship comes from the heart."
When summer ended, Lily promised to keep Zale's secret. She learned that the most wonderful discoveries often come from being brave enough to swim into the unknown—and that friends can be found in the most unexpected places.
Now whenever Lily sees spinach, she smiles, remembering the friendly zombie who taught her that kindness is the truest magic of all.
