The Zombie's Magical Game
Lily loved playing padel at the old court behind her house. The racket made a satisfying *thwack* when she hit the ball against the wall. But today, dark clouds gathered overhead as storm clouds turned the sky purple.
*CRACK!* Lightning flashed bright as a camera flash, striking the old oak tree beside the court. When the spots cleared from Lily's eyes, she saw someone standing there.
He had greenish skin, messy hair, and walked a bit stiffly. A zombie!
Lily wanted to run, but something stopped her. The zombie didn't look scary at all — he looked lonely. His big brown eyes watched the padel racket in her hand with curiosity.
"Do you... want to play?" Lily asked, her voice shaking just a little.
The zombie's face lit up. He nodded and reached out with a bouncy step. Lily handed him her extra racket. The zombie examined it carefully, then gave an excited hop.
They played for hours as rain sprinkled down. The zombie moved with surprising grace, returning every ball with a joyful grin. He couldn't speak, but he laughed — a warm, friendly sound that made Lily laugh too.
Other kids had run away when they saw him. But Lily had stayed. She learned that sometimes, the scariest-looking things just need someone to give them a chance.
"I'm Lily," she said, extending her hand.
The zombie took it gently and pointed to himself. "Zom..."
"Nice to meet you, Zom," she smiled.
The lightning that had brought Zom to life had also given him a special gift. Every time he hit the padel ball, tiny sparks of light danced around it, making the game magical.
They played until sunset, becoming the best of friends. And every time storm clouds gathered, Lily would grab her rackets and run to the court, knowing her magical friend would appear, ready for another wonderful game.
Sometimes the best friendships come from the most unexpected places — even from a lightning strike and a lonely zombie who just wanted to play.
