The Zombie's Magic Hat
Lily loved wearing her grandma's old purple hat. It had sparkly stars and smelled like vanilla cookies. Every Saturday, she played padel with her best friend at the park. But today, something strange happened.
A green zombie shuffled onto the padel court! Lily wanted to run, but the zombie looked sad. He held out a hand—holding something orange and glowing.
"Please," the zombie said. "I need a friend."
Lily's heart went pit-a-pat. This zombie wasn't scary. He was lonely! She stepped closer and saw the orange thing was a magic vitamin.
"I'm Zorg," the zombie whispered. "I haven't smiled in three hundred years. I lost my joy-vitamin when I fell through a magic door from Zombie World."
Lily gasped. "Are you the zombie from Grandma's stories? The one who forgot how to play?"
Zorg nodded slowly. His green face crumpled like a wet paper towel.
Lily had an idea. "Come play padel with us! That always makes me happy."
Zorg had never held a padel racket. At first, he tripped over his own feet. The ball bonked him on the head. But Lily and her friend laughed, and suddenly—Zorg giggled too!
They played until sunset. Zorg's skin turned from green to pink. His saggy zombie pants filled out. He wasn't a zombie anymore—he was a real boy!
"The joy-vitamin was inside me all along," Zorg said, smiling. "Friendship was the magic ingredient."
From that day on, Zorg wore the purple hat on Tuesdays, and Lily learned that sometimes the scariest-looking things just need a friend—and a game of padel—to find their joy again.
