The Zombie's Magic Hat
In the creaky old house at the end of Maple Street lived a zombie named Zeb. But Zeb wasn't scary at all. He was green and bumpy, yes, but he was also very lonely. Every night, he watched children playing through his dusty window, wishing he had just one friend.
One afternoon, Zeb found something shiny in the garden—a bright yellow hat with stars all around it! When he put it on, something magical happened. Zeb didn't feel so zombie-like anymore. His green skin seemed to glow, and for the first time, he felt brave enough to leave his house.
In the park, he met a girl named Lily. She wasn't scared of him at all! "Cool hat!" she said, smiling. "I'm Lily. What's your name?"
"I'm Zeb," he said softly. "But I'm a zombie. Most kids run away."
Lily laughed. "That's silly! My grandma says vitamins make us healthy and strong. Maybe you just need the right kind of vitamin!" She pulled something from her pocket—a shiny iPhone. "My grandpa says this is like magic too. Want to see something funny?"
She showed Zeb silly videos, and for the first time, Zeb laughed. A real, happy laugh! The yellow hat seemed to sparkle even brighter.
"Friendship is the best vitamin of all," Lily said, handing Zeb a bright orange gummy vitamin shaped like a star. "For being brave enough to wear that wonderful hat and say hello."
From that day on, Zeb wore his magical hat every day. He and Lily became best friends. Sometimes, other kids still stared at his green skin, but Zeb didn't mind. He had learned something wonderful: the right friends can help you feel brave, magical, and just right—exactly as you are.
And every time Zeb put on his starry yellow hat, he remembered: sometimes the most unexpected friendships are the most wonderful ones of all.
