The Zombie's Magic Garden

Lily discovered the hidden garden behind her house on a Tuesday afternoon. Between two enormous oak trees stood a crumbling stone pyramid covered in glowing purple vines. And there, carefully watering a patch of vegetables, stood a green-skinned zombie.

"Hello there!" the zombie called cheerfully. "I'm Zed. Would you like some magical spinach?"

Lily wasn't scared. Zed had kind eyes and wore gardening gloves covered in sparkles. "Magic spinach?"

"One bite gives you the ability to understand animals!" Zed said proudly. "I grow it here because the magic pyramid makes the soil special."

Lily tried a leaf and suddenly heard birds gossiping about seeds and worms complaining about the damp earth. She gasped with delight.

For weeks, Lily visited Zed's garden. She learned he wasn't a scary zombie at all, but a guardian who'd protected the magical pyramid for hundreds of years. His job was keeping the magic alive so all children could experience wonder.

One day, the glowing purple vines began to fade. "The magic is dying!" Zed cried. "I need more power!"

He led Lily to a shimmering blue pool hidden behind rosebushes. A thick golden cable connected the pool to the pyramid. "This cable channels magic from the pool to the pyramid," Zed explained. "But something's blocking the flow!"

Lily peered into the water. A sad little frog sat on a rock at the bottom, singing a lonely song. Thanks to the spinach, Lily understood: The frog was lonely and its sadness was blocking the magic.

"We need to cheer him up!" Lily declared.

Zed tried telling jokes. The frog didn't smile. Lily tried singing. The frog didn't cheer up. Then Lily had an idea. She invited all the forest animals—the chattering birds, the complaining worms, even the grumpy squirrels—to a pool party.

The frog made friends. He wasn't lonely anymore. The pool began to glow brighter than ever. Magic rushed through the golden cable into the pyramid. The purple vines burst with new life.

"Thank you both!" the frog croaked happily.

Zed hugged Lily. "You saved the magic! But more importantly, you made a friend feel welcome."

Lily smiled, eating another spinach leaf. She learned that magic wasn't just about sparkles and powers. The real magic was friendship, kindness, and making sure no one ever felt lonely again.
