The Zombie's Magic Garden

Lily hated spinach. Every time her mom put it on her plate, she made a face. "It's green and yucky!" she'd complain.

One afternoon, while playing hide-and-seek, Lily squeezed through a broken fence and discovered a secret garden she'd never seen before. But the most surprising thing wasn't the flowers—it was the gardener.

He had patchy green skin, buttons for eyes, and walked with a funny wobble. "Hello there!" he said cheerfully. "I'm Zed. I'm a zombie, but don't worry—I'm a friendly one. I tend magical gardens."

Lily had never heard of a friendly zombie before. "You don't look scary at all."

"That's because I'm filled with plant magic," Zed said, smiling. "Would you like to see my special vegetable?"

He led her to a patch of glowing plants. "This is orange spinach," he said proudly. "It only grows in moonlight. Try a leaf!"

Lily nibbled the bright orange leaf. It tasted sweet and sunny, like sunshine wrapped in a crisp leaf. "It's delicious!"

Suddenly, a large bull with golden horns peeked around the corner. "Is everything alright, Zed?" the bull asked.

"This is Barnaby," Zed said. "He's my best friend and protects the garden from anyone who might hurt the plants."

Lily couldn't believe it—a zombie gardener, a talking bull, and magical orange spinach! "Can I come back and visit?" she asked.

"Of course!" said Zed. "But remember, Lily—never judge something by how it looks. Whether it's a strange vegetable or an unusual friend, wonderful surprises often come in unexpected packages."

That night, Lily ate every bite of spinach on her plate—even the green kind—dreaming of secret gardens and the friends she'd made there.
