The Zombie's Baseball Wish
Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. One sunny afternoon, her golden retriever Buster started barking at an old oak tree. Lily pushed aside some branches and discovered a hidden path.
The path led to a sparkling pond where the water glowed with soft blue light. Sitting on a rock nearby was a green figure—a zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary. He wore a tattered jersey and looked sad.
"Hello," Lily said bravely. Buster wagged his tail.
The zombie sighed. "I'm Zed. I've been stuck here for fifty years because I never learned to play."
"Play what?" Lily asked.
Zed pointed to an old baseball lying in the grass. "Baseball. The magic water grants wishes, but I can't leave until someone plays with me."
Lily's eyes lit up. "I love baseball!" She grabbed the ball and noticed something shiny nearby—a padel racket from an old tennis court.
"Let's play!" Lily said.
For hours they played in the magical clearing. Lily taught Zed how to hit the baseball with the padel racket. Buster chased the ball and brought it back, drooling happily. Zed laughed for the first time in fifty years, and his green skin began to glow pink.
As the sun set, Zed's zombie form faded away completely. A normal boy stood in his place, smiling.
"Thank you," Zed said. "Friendship broke the spell, not just playing."
The magical water bubbled and created a rainbow bridge. Zed crossed it and waved goodbye. Lily and Buster walked home, knowing kindness could unlock even the hardest curses.
