The Zombie's Bad Hair Day
Lily had the most extraordinary hair in the whole world. It wasn't just curly or straight — it was magical. Her hair changed colors with her mood: pink when she was happy, blue when she was sad, and sparkly purple when she was excited.
One sunny afternoon, Lily was playing in her backyard when she spotted something strange shuffling behind the old oak tree. It looked like a zombie! Its clothes were tattered, its skin was greenish, and it walked with a wobbly stumble.
Lily's hair turned bright yellow with fear, but then she noticed something — the zombie was crying. Green tears dripped down its cheeks.
"Are you okay?" Lily called out, brave despite her trembling knees.
The zombie looked up with sad, googly eyes. "I'm Zimbly," it said in a rusty voice. "I'm not a scary zombie. I'm just a magical creature who woke up from a hundred-year nap with a terrible bad hair day."
Lily gasped. Zimbly's hair was indeed a disaster — tangled, knotted, and sticking straight up like a green haystack.
"My iphone has a great hair braiding app!" Lily exclaimed. "I can help!"
For the next hour, Lily sat Zimbly on a tree stump and used her favorite app to learn magical zombie hair styles. She combed and braided Zimbly's wild green hair into beautiful patterns, weaving in tiny flowers from the garden.
When they were done, Zimbly looked in the mirror Lily's mom had brought outside. "I look wonderful!" Zimbly cheered, doing a happy dance. "You're my best friend, Lily!"
Lily's hair glowed shimmering gold — the color of friendship. She learned that day that zombies aren't always scary, and that kindness can turn any monster into a friend.
From then on, every Saturday, Zimbly came over for hair styling adventures. And Lily? She became known as the girl who could make friends with anyone — even zombies.
