The Zombie Pool Party

Leo clutched his favorite baseball as he tiptoed past the sleeping house. The full moon painted everything silver as he crept toward the backyard. Tonight was special — his best friend Maya had promised him a surprise.

"Psst! Over here!" Maya whispered from behind the rosebushes. She wore sparkly goggles and held a mysterious jar of glowing blue liquid. "The magic works best at midnight!"

The old swimming pool sat silent and mysterious in the moonlight. But tonight, something incredible was about to happen.

"Watch this," Maya said, pouring the glowing liquid into the water. Ripples of blue light danced across the surface. Then — SPLASH! — the pool began to bubble and sparkle like stars come down to swim.

"Incredible!" Leo gasped.

"That's not all," Maya grinned. "Throw in your baseball!"

Leo hesitated. This was his lucky baseball — he'd never lost a game with it. But Maya's eyes shone with wonder, so he tossed it gently into the glowing water.

*POOF!* The water erupted with shimmering bubbles, and suddenly, the baseball transformed into something amazing — a friendly zombie!

But this wasn't a scary zombie like in movies. He was a cheerful, green-skinned boy with messy purple hair and the biggest smile Leo had ever seen.

"HI! I'm ZED!" the zombie cheered, doing a happy cannonball into the magical water. "Wanna play?"

"A real zombie!" Maya squealed with delight.

Zed turned out to be the most fun playmate ever. He could float on his back without moving, make his arms stretch like bubblegum, and create glowing underwater rainbows. The three of them played zombie tag, had diving contests, and Zed even taught them a secret zombie dance that involved lots of wiggling.

"I wish this could last forever," Leo said as the first hints of dawn colored the sky.

Zed smiled kindly. "Friendship magic lasts forever. Just remember — real magic isn't in potions or spells. It's in having adventures with friends who believe in impossible things together."

As the sun peeked over the horizon, Zed began to fade. "Thanks for playing with me!" he called, dissolving into sparkles that floated up to join the morning stars.

Leo's baseball bobbed to the surface — good as new, but now somehow extra special.

"Best night ever," Maya said, squeezing Leo's hand.

Leo nodded, holding his lucky baseball close. The magic had been amazing, but the real treasure was something even better — a friend who shared his sense of wonder and adventure. And that was the most magical thing of all.
