The Zombie Pool Party
Leo loved summer. He loved the smell of sunscreen, the taste of ice pops, and most of all, he loved his backyard pool. But this summer was extra special because his new friend Mia had moved in next door.
One hot afternoon, Leo and Mia were playing in the pool when Leo had an idea. "Let's play Zombie Baseball!"
Mia's eyes widened. "What's that?"
"It's a game my grandpa taught me!" Leo explained. "One person is the zombie and has to walk super slow like this—" he demonstrated a funny, arms-out zombie walk—"while the other person throws the baseball. The zombie has to catch it, but they can only move in zombie speed!"
Mia giggled. "That sounds perfect!"
They played for hours, splashing in the cool blue water, taking turns being the slow-motion zombie. Leo's golden retriever, Buster, even joined in, barking happily whenever someone caught the ball.
But then something magical happened. As the sun began to set, casting golden light across the water, Leo noticed something floating in the deep end of the pool. It wasn't a leaf or a toy—it was a tiny, glowing turtle.
"Look!" Leo whispered.
The turtle wasn't scared at all. It swam right to Mia's hand and made a soft clicking sound. Suddenly, the water around them began to shimmer with tiny rainbow lights, like someone had sprinkled magic dust across the surface.
"I think he likes our game," Mia said softly.
The magical turtle swam in happy circles around them, and for a moment, Leo felt like the most special kid in the world. Not because of the magic or the adventure, but because he had found a friend who loved imagination just as much as he did.
As the turtle swam away, disappearing into the shimmering depths, Leo realized something wonderful: the best magic wasn't glowing turtles or rainbow water. The real magic was finding a friend who would play Zombie Baseball with you, splash in the pool until the sun went down, and believe in impossible things together.
"Same time tomorrow?" Mia asked, her eyes sparkling.
"Absolutely," Leo grinned. "But tomorrow, we're teaching the zombie to hit home runs!"
