The Zombie Padel Champion
Lily loved Saturday mornings at the park. She grabbed her padel racket from the garage—it was bright blue with sparkles, just like a summer sky. Her dad was already setting up the court, humming a happy tune.
But first, Lily needed her lucky charm. She dashed home, running so fast her pigtails flew behind her like two braided comets. Up to her room she scrambled, searching everywhere.
"Got it!" she cheered, grabbing her dad's old iPhone. He let her use it to play her favorite game, Zombie Dance Party. The little zombie on screen, Zippy, would wiggle and giggle when she made him dance. He wasn't scary—he was silly and green with one crooked tooth.
"Lily! We're waiting!" her best friend Mia called from outside.
Lily grabbed the charging cable and stuffed it in her pocket—just in case Zippy needed extra energy for luck today. She flew back down the stairs, her heart full of excitement.
The padel match was magical. Lily and Mia played against two boys from school, Max and Sam. The ball went back and forth, back and forth—ping! pang! poom! Everyone laughed when the ball bounced off the fence and a squirrel ran up a tree, looking very confused.
During a break, Lily checked her phone. "Zippy needs to dance for good luck!" she said, making the little zombie do his silly wiggle dance. The phone battery flickered—only 5% left!
Quick as lightning, Lily plugged in the cable. Her friends gathered around, watching Zippy boogie. "Can we make him dance too?" asked Max. Soon, all four children were taking turns, giggling as the zombie did his funny moves.
"What if we play Zombie Padel?" suggested Mia. "When someone misses the ball, they have to do the Zippy Wiggle!"
The rest of the game became the funniest thing ever. When Max missed a shot, he wiggled his bottom like Zippy. When Sam sent the ball into the bushes, everyone did the zombie dance together, even the parents watching from the sidelines.
Lily's team won, but that didn't matter. What mattered was the laughter, the friendship, and the magic of turning a regular Saturday into something extraordinary.
That night, Lily fell asleep dreaming of padel rackets and dancing zombies. She learned something wonderful: sometimes the best victories aren't about winning—it's about the joy you share with friends along the way.
