The Zombie Goldfish's Secret
Leo had a very unusual goldfish named Fin. Every few days, Fin would float upside down at the top of his bowl, completely still.
"Oh no!" Leo would cry. "My goldfish is a zombie fish!"
But every time, Fin would suddenly flip right-side up and start swimming happily again, as if nothing had happened.
One night, as Leo was sleeping, his stuffed bear Barnaby began to glow. The little teddy bear grew to life size and poked Leo's nose.
"Wake up, Leo!" Barnaby whispered. "Fin has been trying to tell you something important!"
Leo rubbed his eyes. "Barnaby? You're alive?"
"And so are you, in this dream!" Barnaby grinned. "Come with me!"
They tiptoed to Fin's bowl, but instead of a small fish, a magical creature with golden scales swam inside—a Fin big enough to ride!
"All those times I floated like a zombie," Fin bubbled, "I was actually visiting a magical place! Want to see?"
Leo climbed onto Fin's back, and Barnaby held on tight. Together they swam right out of the fishbowl and into a moonlit stream that flowed through the sky!
Below them appeared a beautiful crystal pyramid glowing with rainbow light. They splashed down into a warm lake at its base.
"Welcome to the Memory Pyramid," Fin said proudly. "Every time I played zombie, I was swimming here to collect lost happy memories that people had forgotten."
Inside the pyramid were floating bubbles, each containing a different happy moment—a child's first laugh, a grandmother's hug, a puppy's first bark.
"I bring these back to you," Fin explained, "so you'll always have happy dreams."
Barnaby smiled. "That's the secret about friends, Leo. Sometimes they do wonderful things we never even notice!"
Leo woke up to morning sunlight. Fin was swimming happily in his bowl, and Barnaby sat on his pillow. But now Leo understood—his little fish had been giving him magical gifts all along.
"Thank you, Fin," Leo whispered. "Thank you for being my friend."
And somewhere in his dreams, the Memory Pyramid glowed a little brighter that night.
