The Zombie Goldfish's Midnight Swim

Lily loved her goldfish, Finny, more than anything in the world. Every day after school, she would sit by his bowl and tell him stories about her day. But one rainy Tuesday, something terrible happened. Finny was floating at the top of his bowl, not moving at all.

"He's gone," Mom said gently, helping Lily dig a small hole in the garden. Tears streamed down Lily's face as she said goodbye to her best friend.

That night, Lily couldn't sleep. She wandered to the garden with a flashlight, something pulling her toward Finny's grave. What she saw made her gasp!

Finny was swimming through the air like the garden was filled with invisible water. His scales shimmered with rainbow colors, and tiny bubbles floated from his mouth. He wasn't just a regular goldfish anymore — he was a MAGIC goldfish!

"I'm what you call a zombie goldfish," Finny bubbled. "I come back to grant one special wish to someone who truly loved me."

Lily's eyes widened. "Really? Anything?"

"Anything your heart desires," Finny said. "But choose wisely. Magic works best when it helps others too."

Lily thought hard. She could wish for toys, or candy, or even a trip to the moon. But then she remembered her little brother Timmy, who refused to eat anything green. He was always tired and couldn't keep up with other kids at the playground.

"I wish," Lily said slowly, "that Timmy would love eating spinach and understand how it makes him strong!"

Finny's scales glowed brighter than a star. The magic swirled around them like a whirlpool of sparkling water. The next morning, something amazing happened. Timmy asked for spinach with his breakfast! He ate three helpings and then ran outside, racing faster than ever before.

That night, Lily found a beautiful rainbow-colored scale on her pillow. She knew Finny was still watching over her, swimming through magical waters somewhere, reminding her that the best wishes are the ones that help the people we love.

And from that day on, Lily and Timmy both ate their spinach with smiles, thinking of their magical zombie goldfish friend.
