The Zombie Goldfish's Magical Midnight Swim

Lily's heart sank when she saw Goldie floating upside down in the bowl. Her orange goldfish, with his shimmering scales like tiny pieces of sunset, had been her best friend for three years.

"He's gone," Lily whispered, tears welling in her eyes. She gently tapped the glass. "Goldie?"

That night, Lily couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about Goldie. Something magical happened at midnight—the grandfather clock in the hallway chimed twelve times, and a soft silver moonlight beam filtered through her window, landing right on the fishbowl.

Lily sat up, rubbing her eyes. She couldn't believe what she saw!

Goldie wasn't just floating anymore. He was swimming! But he swam differently than before—sort of wobbly, like he was still half-asleep. His scales glowed with a faint orange light, and tiny bubbles spelled out words: "L-I-L-Y."

"You're a zombie goldfish!" Lily gasped, remembering the silly stories her big brother told about creatures that come back to life. "But you're not scary at all. You're magical!"

Goldie did a little flip, and another bubble appeared: "F-R-I-E-N-D."

Lily pressed her finger against the glass, and Goldie swam over to touch it. She realized something important: sometimes things seem gone forever, but love and magic can bring them back in surprising ways.

"I'll never forget you again, Goldie," she promised.

Goldie swam happily, creating orange ripples in the water. Every night after that, at midnight, Lily would sneak to her fishbowl, and her zombie goldfish would perform magical tricks—swimming in figure eights, blowing heart-shaped bubbles, and glowing like a tiny orange moon.

Lily learned that the best kind of magic doesn't just bring things back—it makes them more wonderful than before. And some friendships, like zombie goldfish, are strong enough to swim through anything—even the mysterious waters between midnight and morning.
