The Zombie Goldfish's Magical Hair
Lily loved swimming. Every summer day, she'd splash in the lake behind her house, diving deep until her toes wiggled in the cool mud. Her best friend Sam would watch from the dock, still learning to swim.
One afternoon, Lily spotted something extraordinary—a tiny goldfish with the most beautiful shimmering scales, like tiny jewels. But the strangest part? This goldfish had long, flowing purple hair that waved like water ribbons!
"Come meet my friend!" the goldfish bubbled. Lily gasped. Fish didn't talk!
"I'm Finnley," said the goldfish. "And I'm not an ordinary fish. I'm a zombie goldfish!"
Lily's eyes went wide. "A zombie? But aren't zombies scary?"
Finnley laughed, bubbles rising to the surface. "Not me! Long ago, I was a regular pet fish who didn't know how to swim properly. My owner forgot to feed me, and I... well, I swam to the great fishpond in the sky. But the Water Fairy gave me magical hair and brought me back to teach fish how to swim beautifully!"
Sam called from the dock, "Lily, who are you talking to?"
"A zombie goldfish with magical hair!" Lily shouted back. "Come in—the water's perfect!"
Sam hesitated, then took a deep breath and jumped in. Something amazing happened. Finnley's purple hair began to glow, and suddenly Sam could swim! Not just doggy paddle—beautiful, graceful swimming.
"Your hair gave him the magic!" Lily exclaimed.
Finnley swished his purple locks proudly. "Being a zombie means I have extra magic to share. Every summer, I help one afraid friend become brave in the water."
That day, Lily and Sam swam together for hours, while Finnley the zombie goldfish did flips and swirls, his magical hair creating rainbow sparkles in the sunlight.
When it was time to leave, Finnley promised, "I'll always be here. Just remember—true friends help each other swim through scary waters, no matter how deep they are."
Lily and Sam walked home, hand in hand, already planning tomorrow's swimming adventure with their magical zombie goldfish friend.
