The Zombie Goldfish's Magical Hair
Lily loved swimming more than anything. Every summer evening, she'd slip into her backyard pool as the stars came out, splashing beneath the moon.
One night, something strange happened. Her pet goldfish, Finneon, who usually lived in a bowl on the porch, was floating in the pool with her. But this wasn't the same Finneon.
The little orange fish had grown wild, flowing hair made of shimmering seaweed. His golden scales looked dull and grayish, and he moved slowly—very slowly—dragging himself through the water like a sleepy zombie fish.
"Finneon?" Lily whispered. "What happened to you?"
The zombie goldfish spoke in a slow, bubbly voice. "A grumpy garden gnome cast a spell on me. He said goldfish shouldn't have such magnificent hair." A tear mixed with the pool water. "Now I'm cursed to be slow and gray until someone shows me true friendship."
Lily's heart melted. She carefully scooped up Finneon and swam to the shallow end. "Your hair is beautiful!" she said, gently touching the flowing seaweed strands. "I'll be your friend forever, zombie or not."
She spent the whole night swimming beside him, racing slowly so he could keep up. She told him stories about her school, her dreams, and her secret wish to see real oceans. They played hide-and-seek among the pool lights, and Lily even fashioned him a tiny crown from flower petals.
As the sun began to rise, Finneon's gray scales turned golden again. His seaweed hair sparkled with magic. The zombie curse had broken!
"Thank you, Lily," he said, his voice bright and bubbly again. "True friendship is the strongest magic."
From that night on, whenever Lily went swimming, Finneon would join her—magically growing legs to splash beside her, his magnificent hair flowing behind him like a seaweed cape. They became the best of friends, proving that even zombie goldfish need love, and that real magic lives in kindness and friendship.
