The Zombie Goldfish's Magic Wish

Lily loved spending summer days at her grandmother's house, especially in the garden where the giant palm tree swayed in the warm breeze. One afternoon, while running through the sprinkler, she noticed something strange near the flower bed.

There, in a tiny puddle, was a goldfish. But this wasn't just any goldfish — its scales shimmered with an unusual green glow, and it kept blinking at her even though fish shouldn't blink.

"I'm a zombie goldfish," the fish said in a bubbly voice. "I used to be regular, but magic brought me back! Now I can grant one special wish."

Lily's eyes grew wide. A talking zombie goldfish? This was the most amazing thing ever!

"What kind of wish?" she asked, kneeling beside the puddle.

"Any wish that comes from your heart," the goldfish explained. "But you must decide quickly. My magic only lasts until sunset."

Lily thought hard. She could wish for unlimited ice cream, or a room full of toys, or even to fly like a superhero. But then she remembered her grandmother, who had been sad lately because she couldn't visit the ocean anymore.

"I wish for my grandma to see the beach again," Lily said firmly. "She misses the sound of waves and the feeling of sand between her toes."

The zombie goldfish smiled — which looked quite silly on a fish. "That's the best wish I've ever heard!"

Suddenly, the puddle began to glow. The goldfish swam in happy circles, and from the water appeared a beautiful shell. When Lily held it to her grandmother's ear, instead of the ocean, they heard the real sounds of waves crashing and seagulls calling.

Grandma's face lit up with joy. She closed her eyes and smiled. "I can almost feel the sand," she whispered.

From that day on, whenever Lily felt lonely, she would visit the spot under the palm tree where she'd met her magical friend. And sometimes, if she listened carefully, she could hear the zombie goldfish giggling in the garden, happy to have helped someone's wish come true.

Lily learned that the best magic isn't about getting what you want — it's about helping someone else's dreams come true.
