The Zombie Garden's Secret

Lily discovered the magic pool behind her grandmother's house on a hot summer afternoon. The water sparkled like liquid diamonds, and three golden goldfish darted through the crystal depths like tiny, fiery comets.

Every day, Lily visited the pool. But one day, something strange happened. The goldfish wouldn't swim. They floated near the surface, looking sleepy and sad.

"What's wrong?" Lily whispered.

The biggest goldfish spoke in a voice like soft bells. "The garden needs papaya vitamins! The zombie plant is hungry!"

Lily had never heard of a zombie plant. Her grandmother grew papayas in the sunny corner of the garden—sweet, orange fruits that tasted like sunshine itself.

That night, under a silver moon, Lily crept outside. In the shadowy corner stood a withered vine, brown and brittle. But as she approached, holding a ripe papaya, the plant trembled. Ghostly green leaves unfurled like waking butterflies. The zombie plant wasn't scary at all—it was magic that had been sleeping!

Lily placed papaya slices at its roots. The plant glowed with soft light, sending sparkles dancing across the yard. The glow flowed into the pool, where the goldfish began to swim in joyful spirals.

"Thank you!" the goldfish chimed together. "The zombie plant gives us magic vitamins, but only when someone shares with love."

Lily learned that magic isn't about power—it's about caring for things that seem forgotten. Even things that look dead can bloom with kindness.

Every summer after, Lily tended the zombie plant and shared papaya with the goldfish. And sometimes, just sometimes, the plant's magic made her float three inches off the ground.

Grandmother never quite understood why the garden glowed at night. But Lily knew: some secrets are meant to be kept between friends.
