The Zombie Cat's Secret Mission

Lily loved two things most in the world: her fluffy orange cat Marmalade, and her teddy bear, Barnaby. Every day after school, they went on adventures together in her backyard.

"Today we're spies!" Lily whispered, slipping a paper towel roll over one eye like a telescope. Barnaby sat faithfully on her shoulder. "Our mission: find the Secret Treasure of the Garden!"

Marmalade the cat stretched, yawned, and began walking in the strangest way—stiff-legged, with one paw raised high, like she was dancing while sleepwalking.

"Barnaby, look!" Lily gasped. "Marmalade is a zombie!" She giggled as her zombie cat led them on a wobbly journey past the rosebushes, toward the old willow tree.

The spy trio followed the trail of fluttering butterflies until they heard something magical: the sound of rushing water. Behind a curtain of weeping willow branches sparkled a tiny stream Lily had never seen before!

The water glowed with golden light, reflecting the sunset. Rainbow fish darted through crystal-clear pools. Dragonflies with wings like stained glass danced above the surface.

"We found it!" Lily cheered. "The Secret Treasure!"

Marmalade dipped a paw in the water and splashed Lily. Barnaby tumbled in with a soft *plop*. Lily laughed until her sides hurt, rescuing her soggy bear and hugging her zombie cat tight.

"Best spy mission ever," she whispered, watching the water sparkle as stars appeared above. Some treasures aren't gold or jewels. Sometimes, the best treasure is an adventure with your best friends—and discovering magic right in your own backyard.
