The Zombie Bull's Secret Game
Lily and her best friend Max loved playing baseball in the old field behind their house. One hot afternoon, they hit their favorite ball so high it disappeared over the mysterious fence.
"We have to get it back!" Max said, grabbing his padel racket from the shed. "This will help us reach anything."
Lily nodded bravely. Together they climbed the fence and landed in a field they'd never seen before. Tall grass swished like ocean waves around their knees.
Suddenly, a strange noise echoed: "MOOO-arrrgh..."
A giant bull lumbered out from the trees, but something was wrong. Its fur looked patchy and green, and it walked stiffly, like it was sleepwalking.
"It's a zombie bull!" Max whispered, eyes wide.
Lily wanted to run, but something made her stay. The zombie bull didn't look angry — it looked lonely. It dropped something from its mouth and nudged it toward them with its nose.
"Our baseball!" Lily gasped.
The bull tilted its head, waiting.
Lily stepped forward slowly. "Thank you, Mr. Bull. Are you a friend?"
The zombie bull's eyes seemed to sparkle. It lowered its giant head and let Lily pat its patchy fur.
"He's not a zombie at all," Max realized. "He's just old and messy! He needs a friend too."
Every day after school, Lily and Max returned with treats for their new friend. They discovered he loved when they played baseball nearby, watching with gentle brown eyes. The padel racket helped them reach apples from high trees to share with him.
Sometimes things that seem scary are just lonely and misunderstood. A friend could be anyone — even a messy, old bull with a heart bigger than the baseball field.
Lily and Max learned that the best adventures are the ones where kindness turns fear into friendship forever.
