The Zombie Bull's Secret
Leo sat by the creek, watching the water sparkle under the moonlight. His parents said no bull should act so slow and sleepy, but Leo knew better. Every afternoon, old Barnaby the bull walked like a zombie through the pasture, his head drooping, his eyes half-closed. The other animals laughed, but Leo sensed something magical about Barnaby.
One afternoon, dark clouds gathered overhead. Lightning flashed across the sky, and rain started to fall. Leo ran to the barn to check on Barnaby, but the bull was gone!
Following muddy hoofprints, Leo found Barnaby standing by the stream. The bull wasn't sleepy anymore. His eyes glowed with golden light, and when lightning struck nearby, water swirled around his hooves like dancing silver ribbons.
"You're not a zombie bull at all!" Leo gasped.
Barnaby nodded. "I'm a Storm Friend," the bull spoke gently. "I save my magic for when the water needs help. Watch."
The bull lowered his horns toward the flooded creek. Lightning cracked again, and suddenly the rising water turned into thousands of glowing butterflies. They fluttered up into the clouds, and the rain slowed to a gentle sprinkle.
"Wow!" Leo whispered. "Can I be your friend too?"
Barnaby smiled. "You already are. True friends see the magic others miss."
From that day on, Leo never felt lonely. When storms came, he and Barnaby would dance in the rain, turning lightning into laughter and water into wonder. And whenever anyone asked about the sleepy zombie bull, Leo would just wink and say, "Some friends save their best tricks for special moments."
The moral? Sometimes the most extraordinary magic hides in the most ordinary places, and true friends help each other shine bright.
