The Zombie Bull's Secret

Lily loved exploring the meadow behind her house, especially with her best friends: Mittens the cat and Buster the dog. One sunny afternoon, they followed a glittering butterfly deeper into the woods than they had ever gone before.

"Wait!" Lily whispered. "Do you hear that?"

Behind an old oak tree stood the most unusual creature any of them had ever seen. It looked like a bull, but its fur was patchy and mossy, its eyes glowed soft green like fireflies, and it moved slowly, as if sleepwalking. The creature had been hiding here for years — the town's famous zombie bull!

Mittens the cat hissed at first, her fluffy tail puffing up. But then she crept closer, sniffing carefully. Buster the dog, usually brave and bouncy, stood frozen.

But the strangest thing happened. The zombie bull didn't roar or charge. It simply looked at them with sad, gentle eyes and made a soft, lonely sound.

"He's not scary," Lily whispered, stepping forward. "He's lonely."

The bull nodded slowly. Through mossy lips, he spoke in a rusty voice: "I was once a regular bull, until a grumpy wizard cursed me because I wouldn't charge at innocent children. Now everyone runs away before they can see my real heart."

Lily's eyes widened. "That's the saddest story ever!"

Mittens rubbed against the bull's leg, purring loudly. Buster wagged his tail so hard his whole body wiggled. The bull's green eyes sparkled with happy tears.

"There might be a way to break your curse," Lily remembered. "My grandmother told me about the Magic Water Spring in the cave of Echoing Dreams. Its waters can reveal the true nature within."

Together, the four friends set off through the enchanted forest. They crossed babbling brooks and climbed mossy hills until they found the glowing blue cave. Inside, the Magic Water Spring bubbled with tiny silver fish.

The bull lowered his massive head and drank. Suddenly, his patchy fur transformed into a coat of shimmering rainbow colors! His green eyes turned warm brown, and when he spoke, his voice was rich and warm.

"Thank you," the bull said, nuzzling each friend in turn. "You saw past my scary appearance to who I really am. That's the true magic — friendship and kindness."

Mittens, Buster, and Lily walked home with their new friend, now the most beautiful bull in the kingdom. And whenever anyone asked how they had become friends, Lily would smile and say: "Sometimes the scariest-looking creatures just need someone brave enough to say hello."
