The Zombie Bear's Padel Game
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's attic. It was full of mysterious treasures. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar — an orange padel racquet tucked behind old boxes. It glowed softly in her hands.
"Whose racquet is this?" Lily wondered.
That night, under the full moon, the racquet began to hum. Lily followed it outside to the old overgrown court behind the house. Suddenly, a shaggy figure emerged from the shadows. It was a bear!
But this bear looked strange. Its fur was patchy, one ear flopped down, and it walked with a funny shuffle. Lily remembered the stories about the zombie bear who supposedly haunted these woods.
"Don't be afraid," the bear said in a raspy but kind voice. "I'm not scary. I'm just lonely."
The orange padel racquet in Lily's hand pulsed with light. She realized it was magical — it could reveal the true nature of things.
"I'm Barnaby," the bear continued. "I'm not a zombie. I'm under a sleeping spell that makes me look this way."
Lily's heart went out to him. "Do you want to play padel?"
Barnaby's eyes lit up. "More than anything!"
They played all night under the twinkling stars. The orange ball bounced between them as laughter filled the air. With every hit, Barnaby's fur became fluffier, his ear perked up, and his shuffle turned into a skip.
By sunrise, the spell was completely broken. Barnaby looked like a normal, happy bear.
"Thank you, Lily," he said, hugging her gently. "You saw past appearances and became my friend. That's what broke the spell."
Lily learned that true friendship sees with the heart, not just the eyes. And every full moon, she and Barnaby still meet at the old padel court for magical midnight games — just don't tell the grownups!
