The Zombie Baseball Team
Max loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he would practice in the park, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But there was one problem – Max wasn't very fast.
One sunny afternoon, while Max was running laps around the baseball diamond, he noticed something strange. His orange cat, Whiskers, was sitting near home plate, watching him intently. Whiskers never left the backyard!
"Whiskers!" Max called, panting. "What are you doing here?"
The cat meowed and pawed at something shiny in the grass. Max knelt down and discovered a small, glowing orange tablet. It looked like a vitamin, but it sparkled like magic.
"This must be magic," Max whispered. He gave it to Whiskers, who gobbled it up happily.
Suddenly, Whiskers stood up on two legs and began talking! "Thank you, Max! That was the Enthusiasm Vitamin! I've been waiting for someone kind enough to share it."
Max's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"I can do more than talk," Whiskers grinned. "Come with me!"
The cat led Max to the old baseball field at the edge of town. There, Max saw the most unusual sight – a baseball team made entirely of friendly zombies! They moved slowly and smiled warmly, their green skin glowing in the sunset.
"These are my friends," Whiskers explained. "They're not scary zombies. They're the Patience Team, and they teach children that winning isn't about being the fastest."
The zombie team captain, a gentle giant named Zed, shuffled over. "Want to play, Max? We could use a friend who understands the game."
Max joined their baseball game. He was amazed – even though he was still running slowly, the zombies cheered for every small victory. When Max finally hit the ball, they celebrated like he'd won the World Series.
"Being fast isn't everything," Zed told him. "The magic is in trying your best and helping others do the same."
As the sun set, Whiskers led Max home, now walking on four legs again. The vitamin's magic had worn off, but Max felt stronger than ever.
"Remember," Whiskers meowed one last time before curling up on Max's bed, "the best vitamin for your heart is kindness."
Max smiled, hugging his cat. From that day on, he never worried about being the fastest. He played baseball with joy, always ready to help others, just like his friends on the zombie team had taught him.
