The Zombie Baseball Team
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But today was different. Today was the championship game, and Leo felt terrible.
He'd forgotten to take his vitamin that morning, and now his energy was gone. His mom always said those orange chewables gave him super powers, but he'd been in too much of a hurry, racing out the door with his backpack swinging and his shoes untied.
"I can't play like this," Leo moaned, sitting on the bench. His best friend Maya sat beside him, holding up her iPhone. "Look what I found!" she said excitedly. "This app shows a legendary baseball team from 1950—the Zombie Zombies!"
Leo chuckled. "Zombie Zombies? That's silly."
"No, really!" Maya tapped the screen. "The story says they got their name because they kept playing, inning after inning, even when they were exhausted. They never gave up!"
Something magical happened. As Leo looked at the old photo on the screen, the players began to move! They were dusty and slow, dragging their feet like real zombies, but their eyes sparkled with determination. One player tipped his cap to Leo.
The phone glowed golden, and suddenly Leo felt something strange—energy, flowing through him like magic! He stood up, and his legs felt strong, like he could run forever.
"I'm ready!" Leo shouted. He grabbed his bat and stepped up to the plate. The pitcher threw the ball, and Leo swung—CRACK! The ball sailed over the fence, a perfect home run!
His team cheered, and Maya grinned. "The Zombie Zombies would be proud!"
After the game—they won!—Leo made a promise. From now on, he'd never forget his vitamin again. But he also learned something more important: real strength comes from your heart, and even when you feel tired, you can keep going if you believe in yourself.
That night, Leo put his vitamin on the kitchen counter, right next to his baseball trophy. The Zombie Zombies had taught him the best lesson of all: sometimes the most magical power is simply never giving up.
