The Zombie Baseball's Magical Splash
Lily loved playing baseball in her backyard, especially when the summer sun painted the sky in shades of orange and pink. One afternoon, while running toward home plate, she noticed something strange — her old baseball, which she'd lost weeks ago near the creek, was glowing green and wobbling toward her!
"I'm not just any baseball," the ball squeaked in a tiny voice. "I'm a magical zombie baseball! I was asleep in the water, but your laugh woke me up!"
Lily's eyes widened with delight. She named him Splash, and they became the best of friends. Splash could roll on his own, bounce extra high, and even change colors!
One day, a giant friendly bear appeared at the edge of the woods. "Hello, little ones," the bear rumbled gently. "I'm Benny. I've been watching you play, and it looks like so much fun. May I join?"
Lily was nervous at first, but Splash zoomed forward and landed softly on Benny's nose. "Of course!" Lily cheered. "But you'll need a bigger bat!"
Benny became their team's best player, though he sometimes forgot that running bases meant he had to trot, not stomp. The three friends spent every afternoon playing magical baseball games. The water from the creek would sparkle and cheer whenever someone made a good hit, and fireflies joined as their night-game spectators.
One rainy afternoon, Splash started to fade. "The magic is leaving me," he whispered sadly. "I need to return to the water soon, or I'll become an ordinary baseball again."
Lily and Benny held a special goodbye game. They played their hearts out, running bases and hitting home runs while the rain gently fell. When Splash rolled toward the creek, Lily hugged him tight. "You'll always be my best friend," she promised.
As Splash touched the water, he didn't disappear. Instead, he transformed into a beautiful glowing stone that Lily could keep forever — a magical reminder that the best friends never truly leave us.
Now, every time Lily plays baseball near the creek, the water ripples with happiness, and sometimes — just sometimes — she sees a green glow dancing in the waves, reminding her that magic and friendship are the most important players in any game.
