The Zombie Baseball Game

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every Saturday, he and his best friend Maya played in the park near the sparkling blue water of the pond. But this Saturday was different—it was Halloween!

The pond had a special secret. Sometimes, if you were very lucky, you could spot a tiny golden fish flashing like a living jewel in the water. Leo had never seen it, but he kept hoping.

Today, the neighborhood kids were having a zombie baseball game! Everyone dressed up in tattered clothes and painted green faces. Leo was a zombie pitcher, and Maya was a zombie catcher. They moaned and groaned as they played, making everyone laugh.

When Leo went to fetch a ball that had splashed into the pond, something magical happened. The water shimmered, and suddenly a beautiful goldfish appeared. Its scales gleamed like tiny coins of sunshine!

"Hello, Leo," the goldfish said in a bubbly voice. "I've been watching you play. You and Maya are such good friends. True friendship is the most powerful magic there is."

Leo's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

The goldfish swam closer. "I grant one wish to friends who play together with kindness. What do you wish for?"

Leo thought carefully. He didn't wish for a new bat or to win every game. He looked at Maya laughing in her zombie costume.

"I wish that Maya and I stay best friends forever, and that every kid finds a friend as wonderful as her."

The goldfish smiled, making little ripples in the water. "That's the perfect wish. Friendship is already growing everywhere—just look around!"

Leo turned and saw something amazing. All the zombie kids were playing together, helping each other up when they fell, sharing water, and laughing. New friends were being made right there on the baseball field!

"The wish is already coming true," the goldfish said. "You don't need magic to make friends. You just need kindness and a open heart."

Leo waved goodbye as the goldfish disappeared into the shimmering water. He ran back to Maya, grinning.

"What happened, zombie?" Maya called.

Leo smiled. "I learned the best magic trick ever—how to make friends last forever!"

And from that day on, every time Leo played baseball, he remembered that some magic isn't in wishes, but in the friends who play beside you.
